Old codgers who think they're interesting and their life stories are fascinating just because they've been around a long time. They'll tell anyone who pauses long enough every painfully dull detail of their life to anyone younger who they can catch long enough. Especially bar staff, waiters/esses, healthcare workers, etc, etc - ie, poor sods who are paid to be polite/pleasant and are too polite to ignore them.
I know we're supposed to respect our elders, but oldies, please don't impose endless banal chatter because you are lonely on poor staff who are trapped and have to feign interest. They really couldn't give a tozz that your gout is painful today and your wife died exactly 18 years ago.
