All ECO RFs are fully 2015 compliant ready
for the implementation of new legislation
under the Ecodesign Directive, due next
September. They are fitted with the latest Arated
energy efficient pumps to ensure fuel
consumption is minimised along with carbon
dioxide generation. In addition, with all
Intergas ECO RF boilers installations in social
housing properties, there is now an option to
have a 15 year warranty, with five years on
parts and labour plus a further ten on parts.

Or up to 15 years if you are installing for a Housing Association.

From Intergas Press release

Innovation comes in the form of the boiler’s revolutionary heat exchanger – used in all Intergas models – which eliminates the need for a secondary domestic hot water plate heat exchanger, diverter valve and auto-air vent, which means there’s less to go wrong. In fact the heat exchanger has never had a mechanical failure since its manufacture 20 years ago.

The word mechanical seems to appear in every mention of no failures.

Mechanical failure = something breaks
Hydraulic failure = something leaks

There are a lot of soldered joints in the Intergas heat exchanger
Oh dear, our resident Google Warrior has awoken...

There are no soldered joints in an Intergas heat exchanger, they're high-temperature brazed. They're also all fully wet-tested in the factory prior to release... there hasn't been a hydraulic failure to my knowledge either, apart from the one left turned off in a church in the middle of Winter, which froze solid and split a joint, but that doesn't really count.

Your quoting of Dan's "Total hydraulic separation" suggests that you don't have the first idea what he's talking about.

We're not talking about the ECO RF, we're talking about the SB40. Back in your box now please

At 7:43 into the Intergas video
( Published April 27th 2013 ) it is stated that the "bends and connections are soldered with silver."

It is possible that since that video was published the manufacturing process has been modified.

Back to Intergas then :) I fitted an Intergas flex liner about a month ago, comes as a 10m long kit

Good morning everyone,

I've been thinking more. I've now decided that I want an old-fashioned open-vented system (with a pumped shower). One of the reasons is because I travel abroad a lot and the last thing I want is an unvented cylinder to explode while I'm away.
I understand that unvented cylinders have a lot of safety features like relief valve, etc, but I don't care. I want zero risk, so open-vented it is.

The problem is boiler sizing:

Atag - max. size available 20kW
Intergas - max. size available 30kW

Why are manufacturers offering only small sizes for OV?

Viessmann has a larger size available, 35kW. Is this any good? Or, how about buying 2 small boilers together?

Do Intergas require any modification to work OV or is it just plug & play?

What's the difference between system boiler and OV boiler technically?
