apparently train drivers are well paid but I haven't researched this.
Pal of pal etc was a police man but left to drive trains, better paid.
You could join the cops, reasonable salary. You have already got experience dealing with the public.
Might be an idea as you have no family etc to consider when going off training.
Or be a PCSO, (police community support officer or similar)I believe they have a reasonable salary too, with the protection of being civilian staff so not put upon so much.
What about 'connexions'... not sure if this is nationwide? its the result of amalgamating the youth service and the careers advisory workers.
nursing? teaching?
would your family be able to support you if you did take up a trade?
it seems the ideal time for you to switch careers, what do you fancy doing if you could swop tomorrow?
