I have been trying to drill holes in a tree stump using a old black & decker drill but as it don't have reverse i was finding it hard to remove the auger bit, so i used my challenge extreme drill and i burn't it out so now i need to buy a cheap drill but would a sds drill be any good.

Better with a spade bit then you won't need reverse. Titan are good cheapies if you need new drill.

SDS is for masonary. Any cheapy normal drill will do but let the drill do the work, dont force it as that will indeed burn it out.

Your problem is choice of bit, auger are for drilling thru timber rather than just into it.
