Mnay thanks for all the help.
The room temp showed 20 degrees this morning so has slightly reduced - the heating was turned off at 7/8pm last night. I will monitor the stat over the next couple of weeks and if the room temp isnt dropping to what the actual room temp is i will get it changed over.

adam have you got another temperature guage, or room thermometer, if you can get one and place it next to the stat, you will lnow it the stat is getting a correct reading or not.
If you are still unsure whether the stat is wired correctly, could you take some clear pictures of the stat wiring and the FCU wiring too, thanks.
