Hi
I just had a new bathroom fitted with it's own circuit by an electrician.

When the shower is turned on, it causes my downstairs lights to flicker. Notably, the kitchen light which they also moved, but is a seperate circuit.

Any suggestions?

No. But it's all over text. They are a local well known company in Hornchurch. Thought I had picked a good one

Yawn yawn yawn
Why are you directing that comment at Taylor? unless of course I have misunderstood your comment.

in England and Wales then all domestic works falls under Part P of the Building Regulations so I would suggest that Taylor`s comment is pretty much correct

I raise Part P on here regularly because seemingly very few of the public are aware of if let alone the notifiable aspects in England and Wales - which of course are different.

There are of course trades people who go out of their way to make promises and then fail to deliver and those who simply don't give a toss and the customers are the losers

Anyway, back to the original question. Lights should not flicker. If they have started doing that since electrical work was carried out then you need to be telling the company to examine the reason. Flickering may well be because of a dodgy connection, and you do not want that!

Yes very good. I was unsure why you had replied "yawn yawn yawn" to Taylor`s comment though. At first sight it seemed to me that you might be discounting his comment so that is why I asked you the question.
So please tell me if were dissing his comment or if you were actually supporting his comment or something else, thank you.

Do you really mean "flickering"
or
just "dimming" - when the shower is turned on?

Hmmmm..... Probably more of a dimming. Almost like it's losing power..
It happens to all of the lights on the downstairs circuit

More of a dimming now that you mention it.
Almost like its sucking up the power from the lights.
Not sure that's a technical term
Happens to all the lights on the downstairs circuit. Will check the upstairs later.
