Why try and belittle people

If someone just comes on here...no 'Hi' no 'thanks' ...just barks a question the I dont bother answering anymore.

And too many people cant be bothered to say thanks after loads on here have helped them with a query..we are not here for our own egos..(well..not all of us  )

But a 'think you' is just common courtesy IMO

I do know it all. Why should I pretend that I don't?

I find this to be an astonishing claim, joe. Two of my friends, although hardly in the eminent category, are nevertheless, professors. Neither they, nor any other of my learned friends and acquaintances in university, in colleges or in schools would ever claim that they know it all.
When did you first become aware that you were truly an absolute genius and why are you wasting your time on this forum talking to lesser mortals such as we? With the brains and knowledge that you seem to have, the world should be your stage - not DIYnot.com.

The thickest man I ever met was a professor. I watch a lot of quiz programs and have a good memory. I should be on Mastermind. I have as good a general knowledge as anyone I have ever met. So what? Why should I pretend to be dumb when I'm not? I realise that you do it but I choose not to.

If you had any sense then you would. However, as you were clearly absent when the brains were being given out, you have to rely on empirical knowledge rather than intelligence (quote "I watch a lot of quiz programmes etc). Moreover, just as a stand-up comedian learns by experience to deal with the hecklers in the audience so you have, in much the same way, become quite expert in dealing with those who try to reason with you here.

I spent a few of my early years at university studying intelligence in general and IQ's in particular. Correct me if I'm wrong, but based on that experience, I would guess that your IQ lies within the 95 to 110 range. An honest answer joe-90 - right or wrong?

i don't know the exact figure but many years ago I took a vocational IQ test run by the Australian Government and won a scholarship into university for electrical engineering (mature student). Sadly, I had a young family and never took it up.
I did, however, achieve an IQ in the top 1% of the population, but then again, they are pretty thick those Aussies. True story BTW.

It could be a lot higher than the mean ( = 100 ) but not used to the best advantage.

Having a massive IQ does nothing to increase ones common sense. It can actually provide the means to sucessfully promote senseless ideas thus working directly against developing ones common sense .

So reading some more into that could someone like myself have an extremely high IQ and not realise it? :D
