Will an 80A CU take a 45A shower or cooker?

Not sure if you know this or not, but the amercian supply is two 120v supplies, 180 degrees out of phase, with a common neutral, so they can have 240v for things like cookers and air conditioners, The fuse rating is across the 240v stuff, so obviously if you only have 120v stuff, then you have 400A

it depends whether that 200A is the current availble in each hot or the total current availible at 110V things i have read suggest its the latter
