Wired wireless doorbell... does this exist?

We've used those wireless doorbells before... battery in the button unit, operates wirelessly, chimers plug into a spare mains socket. Great.

In our new house I don't want to be wiring things in and making a mess especially as I want multiple ringers in different rooms, so this seems great, BUT I don't want ugly bulky units plugged into mains sockets everywhere. So is there a hybrid system where it's exactly the same EXCEPT the ringer units get wired in - so it's a wireless wired system?!

I don't want to be wiring long wires between the door bell and the chiming units. Wiring the chimer a short distance is OK and I suppose if I had to wire the button in that's OK but the button and the chimes need to work wirelessly. However I'd rather not have the clunky chimers that take up valuable sockets and can easily be turned off by accident.

What are you wanting to wire the ringer units into if not a socket? Or are you looking to say fix these in a permanent place like landing and hallway on the wall somewhere? tbh I would just settle for either all battery or plugging the socket ones into a socket that you cant see.

I figured the ones you plug into a socket are very large so one you could wire in directly might be much smaller, as well as not looking so ugly. So yes I was hoping to have one in the hall, kitchen, bedroom, etc. I've done this with the plug-in ones (I don't trust battery ones) and it worked great except there's the risk the cleaner unplugs them, or someone turns the switch... and also you lose a socket and they just look clunky due to being quite large.

Could you not simply fit an extra socket? Without a switch, and if you are still worried about unplugging put some form of a cover around it?
But the obviously thing that you can't prevent happening is the battery in the unit outside running flat!

Actually not a bad thought, since I can't obviously find that the product I'm after exists... easy to mount a switchless socket or two.

I think the button is supposed to last a long long time off a single battery though it is an issue. I used to have a wireless battery-only system and it used to go flat all the time. So many times people came round and thought I wasn't in when nobody answered the door! My new house has no doorbell at all and never has (other than the original door-pull which was disconnected). I suppose drilling a hole through the wall is easy enough... but I really would like a wireless link between the door and ringer units so I can fit several ringers.

I imagine these days you can even get WiFi ones though it seems a bit daft. One thing that would be nice would be a different tone depending which door they're at.

More than one door, a disconnected door pull (to the servants quarters?) AND a cleaner......you must have a tradesman entrance where serfs from t' village enter through. Make the peasants wait outside until they're called!

How about a Ring?

You can get a wired one or the battery version lasts a month on a charge. You can then either have it ring a phone or they do wifi extenders, which are mains plugs but not that bulky & reasonable looking. Its also loud.

Try an electrical wholesaler, we've got a portable receiver about 11.25cm x 7.5 x 4.0 that is operated by an external PiR, with careful siting and blocking of part of the lens should be worth a try, works well for our needs, different sounds about 36, it does include the normal chime though. We have two, front and back doors using different sounds at each.
