I know they seem to be despised on here, but I have yet to see any valid reasons or explanations why ? Anyone tried/had problems/any feedback on the Visionic Powermax system ?

yep.

remember google is your friend.

When ever the home theater was played loud the alarm went off!

but I purchased the GE siren separately which was to be used as an external alarm. I highly recommend looking elsewhere as I can sneeze louder than this siren

Taken from here

That aside, it shows that visonic stuff is cheap since it went off whn the home theatre system was turned up, not that good is it

yes others say its ok, but like most things yo do get what you pay for, and when will the batteries go into low battery? at 3 o clock in the morning thats when

mate got one, all the pirs are now dissabled, why? even though they are pet detectors, they do just that, detect pets.

Why would you have the alarm set whilst at home playing home theatre ??

The reviews I found seemed generally good, but thanks for feedback.

i think you will find his alarm was not set, that was his whole point.

like i said google is your friend, i just found this

seems like i said in the first place, visonic are lower than the cheaper end of the market

overll most seem to say its cheap (which it is) does what it says on the tin, but is of cheap quality and its up to you if you want to waste your money

notice only the link i just posted says what its like a few years later, and the problems it has.

go for a wired system every time

im not a fan of the visonic powermax system either to be honest. it looks horible in my opinion. you would be better getting 1 of risco`s systems called the 490x. it is a wired/wirefree system what ever you want it to be. or both. ive used many of the 490x panels for wirefree systems and there fantastic. never had any bother with them. only bit about the 490x is you need a wired bell as it doesn`t take a wirefree one. it comes with a small keypad so you can get the main box in a cupboard somewhere out of the road. the 490x only take 8wirefree sensors if you need more than that go for the 595 as it can take 16 wirefree sensors. as for the batterys. it uses the 3v lithium aswell but if you change them every 2years you won`t have any problems.

3v lithium battery

cost of this good quality battery?

£1? £2? no try £5.49

say you have 10, thats £54.90 every two years you have to spend. Oh buy a cheaper battery? yes do that then and see will it last as long?

Lets say £2 each and they last 18 months, thats still £20 every 18 months you have to spend and you have all the hassle of doing it.

no such problems with a wired alarm.

save the grief, go wired every time

fair enough you have to buy batteries. but sometimes better than a cable running up your living room wall

Why would anyone run a cable UP their living room wall?

it was just a example. i wouldn`t do it but ive seen it. what im trying to say is sometimes you can`t hide cables so wirefree is a better option. otherwise it will look ****e

reluctantly fitted one for someone, eventually they got fed up of replacing the batteries - nuff said

what system was that ? optima RF ? cause there heavy on batteries(6-8months), all the new systems are excellent on batteries.

£54.90 every 2 years ? wow thats an astonishing amount of 52p a week, or 8p a day, what is the cost of a hard wired system per day/week ?

And even then you have to replace the batteries in the panel and bell anyway.

Just installed the visonic system and the build quality is very good. The system dials up to four numbers and you can listen in or use the system to talk to the occupants on receipt of the call if you wish (maybe all systems do this, I don't know)

System had two smokes, one C02, 8 (pet tol) PIRs, one ext wireless siren ,two door contacts and 1 panic alrm, 2 key fobs, cost me £750 and 1/2 day to install and programme, in MHO a very good wireless system. Main critisism : comes with a plug in tranny which I needed to lop off the euro plug and install in an adapt box next to panel fed from FCU, which looks a bit naff.
