wireless themostat and boiler won't communicate

There was one link in the heating side that I removed as the instructions stated. Without the link or the thermostat installed the boiler does not fire, I assume that this correct?

Yes that's how it should be.

Unfortunately it's not unknown for RX1s to become faulty. Does the green light come on when there's a demand for heating ?

Just had another look at those pics. I strongly suspect you have left the switch live from the programmer connected in the boiler, rather than taking it direct to t2 on the rf reciever

This is the wiring diagram I followed. I put the feeds (in black to 2 and 3) Do I need a live link?

Only a red light to state connection - no green.

No the live link isn't needed and adding it could make it harder to get things working properly.

Sorry to keep firing off with more questions but..

When the RX1 is dismounted from it's backplate does the boiler then stop running continuously?

If it does stop, and reattaching the rx1 starts it going again, your wiring is OK and there's something wrong with the setup of the thermostat/RX or the receiver is faulty.

Makes no difference - therefore the issue must be with the boiler end? If so this is out of my area of comfort. May have to call someone else in after all.
