Wiring a light switch - old to new

The
Do the two red wires on the right side of the mounting box both come from the same cable ?
On the right side of the mounting box there is a red wire ,does that come from a cable that also has a black wire coming from it that goes into a connector block with another black wire/s ?
Do you have any voltage testing instruments ?
Just gone in and had a look again Terry.

So no actually 2 red wires on the right come from 2 separate cables, with a black from each that go into the connector block.

I don’t have a voltage tester unfortunately no.

Thanks for pics.
In the original picture that you posted in your first post of the old switch, there is a red and a grey wire both inserted into L1 of the left gang. Where they in that terminal when that switch operated as it should ,or did they come loose at some point when you loosened the switch, and you then put them in that terminal ?
And just to confirm that gang/ swiych is the one that operated the bathroom light and also the fan ?

Hi Terry, they were in the that terminal. The first picture, anything that’s in is how it was but some of the other wires had pulled out of course.

Both switches were working however the bathroom fan was actually coming on with the none bathroom switch, the left gang, so would assume this was connected to the wrong side, unless someone thought that made sense.

Ah ,so with that original wiring the left switch did not control the bathroom fan and light , I was under the impression that it did .
Is the left gang not the bathroom switch ,I thought it was?

No it was right for the bathroom light. Left for the other light and extractor fan. Which doesn’t make sense really but seemed to be how it was done. I would ideally want bathroom light and fan together, but doesn’t matter too much either way

On right switch put grey and brown into L1.
Leave left switch with the two red wires as they are, just remove the grey wire and do as above.
That leaves one red wire to place in the right hand switch Com terminal ,which will also have the short bridge wire linking the two Com terminals.
Tell us the result.

Hi Terry, so I put Brown and Grey in right L1.
2 reds from right cable in left L1. Final red in Com with bridge.

Now, left switch turns both lights on. Right switch turns extractor fan on

You have not done as I outlined. The left switch had one red wire in com and the other red wire in L1
(Also with a grey that You were to move)
I didn't ask you to move those red wires.
Might be a good idea to label the red wires A,B,C, so we could communicate better.

Right I see what you mean there Terry. I’ll label the reds A,B,C as you said. So as on the below diagram. Hopefully I can get it right then! Cheers

I would give this a go:

Obviously you will have to determine which red is which and it does not matter to which COM the supply line goes .

The fan doesn't have a permanent live ,all sorted now . Wiring was being clamped on pvc not conductor.
