I have the following pictured external rotary isolator that I need to wire to be able to cut the power to outside aircon unit. I have a 2.5mm2 twin and earth supply cable.

Can anyone tell me where I connect the mains supply wires and where I connect the wires going to the aircon unit?

Thanks

Terminals 1 and 2 for Line, terminals 5 and 6 for Neutral and E for earths. It seems to be preferred to wire the supply to the top (Terminals 1 and 5).

It shouldn't really be twin and earth.

I should be asking if you are competent to be installing an aircon outside unit.

Sorry 1 and 2 for live and 5 and 6 for neutral! And earth is on the left. But where is the terminal numbers? In the pic on top of the black centre block, there is L1 and L3 and the middle L2 is empty with no screw. And in the right of the housing there is N and on the left there is earth.

So the live brown, and blue neutral coming from supply needs to go to which ones? And where does the brown going to the aircon connect on the isolated? The connections on the aircon itself is done by an aircon engineer and it’s been tested with a temporary plug connection.

With respect, at this point I believe you are in over your head and recommend getting someone in.

Why did he not complete the job?

Nevermind. I figured it out myself. It’s a 2pole isolator.
