Morning all,
I'm hoping that someone on this forum can be of assistance...if I've found myself in the wrong place, please accept my apologies.
A bit of background.
I recently received a CLI Violation letter from Sky saying that one of my boxes wasn't connected to the phone line, which happened to coincide with the Sky aerial cable being snapped off in the back of the box....I told the installer he hadn't made the cable long enough at the time and the girlfriend duly stepped on it again and snapped the pin off in the back...unfortunately this was about 9-10 months ago.
After fixing that last night, I connected everything back up again and it was all working fine until this morning.

I now receive a message firstly saying "No Satellite signal being received", then a message about getting the best out of the interactive services by connecting a phone line.

After some testing it would appear that somehow, overnight, the filter connecting the Sky box upstairs is no longer working.

I don't know a lot about the wiring of these filters but it does appear as though one of the wires coming out of it and heading off upstairs, has broken.

The wire in question is white, and seems to have broken off at the point it meets the little circuit board inside.

What I'd like to know, is if this is something that can be easily fixed or if I'll need to call out the Sky Engineers Of Doom?

Cheers for any help.

what filter?

unless you have broad band (in which case buy a new filter) the sky box should plug directly into the phone socket

Thanks breezer...yes I have both Broadband and a Sky + box all going into the same phone socket...and a phone too obviously...it's a bit of a mess back there, and in all honesty I'm not overly surprised that something has broken.

I have a poor quality picture of it, but you can't post pics on here I presume?

why do you presume you cant post pictures?

look in forum information, it tells you how

have you not a digital camera?

sorry but that is a very low res picture i can see a thumb and some plastic no idea what it is though

If I can deduce from the picture...is it the actual filter that is broken or is it part of the sky box??

If it's the filter you should be able to pick oe up for less than £5 from a local computer shop or somewhere like curry's or comet!! If it's in the sky box you could probably repair it yourself if you are competant at soldering.

i would check the connection you have re made and also check its screwed back onto the digibox terminal properly, the phone filters should be readily available from somewhere like pc world but the message about no signal is related to the dish cable rather then phone line

Yeah the digital camera suffered an unfortunate encounter with a shower...don't ask!

The picture is of the splitter taken apart.
They circle on the right is showing (sort of) the disconnected white wire and the circle on the left shows where it should be connected.

My only concern with replacing the splitter is that the wire going into it heads into the wall and upstairs and is "hard wired" into the splitter, so it's not just a case of removing the internal workings and putting them into another splitter unfortunately.

I'll see if I can get a better picture.

Thanks all.
