Please help, am fitting some downlights into the hallway, want to run them from the wiring is connected to the ceiling rose.I want to take the ceiling rose out and put a junction box up into the ceiling. From what i can gather you normally have one live feed in, then another running to the next light, however there are only three cables running into the ceiling rose, and there are two switches in the hallway operating the same light fitting, so i assume two must be from the switches and one live feed. How would i wire the junction box?

make a note / drawing of how the cabes are now (mark them with an indelable pen is also good, and same on drawing) then change ceiling rose to junction box, with the exception of where the two cables are now for the light (brown and blue) that is where you should connect the transformer to for your downlights.

I can not stress enough how important a drawing is

as for the 3 existing cables you are right as to what they are for (almost), but you will find that the other switch (same lights) has a cable connected to the first switch not at the junction box. but you have no need to touch this
