Hi all - I'm looking at installing a Drayton 1 zone system to my combi boiler.

Here's the current wiring centre, which is a legacy from an old system boiler:

Currently there's a non-smart thermostat linked in downstairs in the hallway, Myson Touch, which looks to be mains wired:

Now - in my head - all I really need is the wire from the boiler and the wire from the mains?
Everything else is redundant.

I should be able to remove the old wiring centre and replace it with the backplate provided with the Wiser?

Note: there is a 3A fuse in a junction box just below the current wiring centre - so I will use the live from that.

So I will wire the mains N L and E to the backplate (the right hand cable in the image I think).
This leaves the cable fed in at the bottom - which I'm going to assume is the wire from the boiler?

I was only expecting two cores and an earth - but I've got more than that so I need some advice.
Looking at what currently happens, all the lives are in 5, neutrals in 4. There's switching in 3 - and a random black wire in 2 that's just being made safe?

So, the grey wire from the boiler is the switch?

I'm not keen on blowing anything up - so some sense-checking would be great...

Thanks in advance!

It's a bit difficult to guess without knowing exactly what is on the other end of the wires in your photos. However, as you have a combi now and a 'One Channel' Wiser for just controlling the central heating. I have 2 options to suggest.

Option 1. The wires at the existing room thermostat are rerouted to the Wiser:
Yellow Wire (Heating Switched Live) goes to Wiser (3)
Red Wire (Live) goes to Wiser (L)
Blue Wire (Neutral) goes to Wiser (N)
Add a link between Wiser (L) and (1)

It is likely that the thermostat cable is the one I've circled in red, you need to check and if it is, you could remove the existing cable completely and connect the Wiser here to the now vacant terminals.

If you have some other time control elsewhere, such as a timeswitch or programmer that would need to be set to be permanently on 24/7

Option 2. Remove the existing wiring completely and wire the Wiser directly to the boiler. You would need to provide info on the boiler for more specific help.

Thank you,

So wiring it in as you've said, either at the wiring center or downstairs? Perfect.

There's nothing else around, no switches or controllers.

Many thanks.

I didn't think there would be any additional controls, because the thermostat you have is 'programmable' in that it has both time and temperature control built in. Sometimes, where older installations have been modified an existing programmer might get left in circuit, so I mentioned it just in case.

Hi - just as a follow-up - all installed and working perfectly.

Many thanks!
