WOKE fine

I had a Mirror. Floor rotted through and i had to put a new one in. Never knew the fibreglass hardener was formic acid but loved the smell :)
that would be quite a difficult job as they are built around the floor and centre board housing. Stitched together with copper wire from memory. We had a mirror and a miracle both home made.

nowadays its Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide, which has a similar smell. Same job creates heat and cures the resin/gel coat

When I had a yacht in N.Wales one of the chaps there worked for Sealine in the Midlands and he used to bring in drums of resin, matting and plenty of hardener for people to repair their fibreglass dinghies. Despite his warnings about how much activator to add to a pot of resin, a few people managed to start small fires.

I had a very heavy boat after the repair. I cut out the rotten areas in the original floor, patched with new ply and put a false floor in over the existing (sold as a set of repair panels).

It was a fun dinghy for its time.
