Passing sentence Judge Peter Jacobs told her: "If this was a 35-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl no one would raise an eyebrow if he was sent to prison."

Says it all - you can't have gender bias in legislation such that one group is afforded less protection or allowed more leeway than another.

Equality seems to be the card being played here. However, men and women aren't completely equal, are they? Especially at that age. 15 year old boys go around trying to get 'in' whilst 15 year old girls spend their time trying to keep the boys 'out' (well most do anyway!)

The court heard there was no victim impact statement as he had been a willing party.

So the judge's argument is flawed, I reckon he was just jealous that the woman was dishing it out to young men but probably wouldn't give his wrinkly old tadger a second look in a million years

Slap on the wrists for the randy old bird maybe, but put away for 15 months? Some murderers don't get much more than that.

There was no mention of whether or not the lad was a virgin at the time. If not, should the punishment have still been as severe? (...to those of you that thought it just)

As a matter of fact, the Age of Consent was introduced specifically to deal with a Victorian value, namely the value of selling your children as prostitutes! Before the law was introduced, it was common practice for the poor to sell their daughters to the rich as soon as they could. If you wanted to buy one, you went to a 'procurer', most of whom were female, and you got a girl in a drugged stupor for your money. It says a lot about Victorian men that they would happily pay to have sex with a comatose partner!

The new law was better than nothing but it was ill conceived in that it tackled the problem from the wrong end. Think about it. If there was an epidemic of car theft, would you start by cracking down on people who buy stolen cars! Meanwhile ---

How very true - and anyone under sixteen who wants to know what sex is all about should start with the many alternatives. A little effort invested in learning what real sex is will pay off handsomely many years later. Brewer's droop, chocolate drop, too tired, got a headache? No problem!

The difference between a boy and a girl is that a boy cannot be forced to have sex with a woman, he would have to be aroused before he could perform the act so if he is aroused he must be enjoying it.
