Hi all,

The handle on the Woodwarm woodburner door has become very stiff - it's the handle and catch itself - it's stiff whether it's open or closed, so it's not a problem with the door or seal.

Ordinarily I'd clean and lubricate something like this with WD40, but I'm thinking that may be a bad idea as it gets pretty hot.

Any ideas?

Thank you, Stephen

can you take it off and dismantle?

look at the fit of the pivoting parts

are they a tight fit? clogged with tar? thickened by rust? bent out of shape?

you could ease them with a file or wet-and-dry paper

this is one of the (very few) occasions when Copaslip can help. Even after the grease has burned away.

I'm so impatient!
I squirted a little GT85 on it, and used a metal pipe to open and close it enough times to loosen it up - it's fine cold - hope it doesn't seize up again when hot!
