I wonder if anyone can help. I have the afformentioned boiler which I wish to install in my kitchen in place of a Rayburn MF which is very noisey and not very efficient. I bought it secondhand sometime ago for very little money, the problem is it has a top entry flue and I need to convert it to a rear flue to be able to fit it. The existing top flue components are not interchangeable with the rear, the necessary new components are probably not available or would cost considerably more than the boiler, I wonder if there is anywhere I could obtain the necessary bits secondhand, I can fabricate a rear discharge with the bits I have but would rather use the correct parts if possible.

Thanks

Peter

Hi Peter
The only 15/19 Heatslaves or Danesmoor boilers that I have seen with a rear discharge flue are balanced flue types with the burner in a sealed box. Is this what you have?
John :)

Hi John

Fancy seeing you here :D Yes that is the type, there is an air intake channel runs up the back of the boiler, it actually looks more suited to a rear flue, the top plate has a slot in it to allow airflow. If I take the flue adaptor plate from the top and redrill the holes I can use it on the back but the air intake side is a bit more complicated, hence the request for a proper fitting.

I have a 12/14 heatslave combi in my holiday place, which has a rear exit balanced flue. However, the burner runs better if the cover is not in place and it draws its combustion air from the room its in -- which has adequate ventilation, obviously. So what I think I'm saying is that it doesn't need to have a balanced flue. Maybe yours could be similar. I'm not sure how this would look to OFTEC people though!
A firm called BES have flue sections on offer, likewise a firm called AGBO.
Worth a peek!

Thanks for that John, I had given it some thought, it would certainly make installation easier especially as I have to cut through an 18" stone wall to get the flue outide!

I don't think there is much likelyhood of a visit form OFTEC - they would never find me :D

Presumably there's a considerable discount for all helpful posters on here, and even greater if they show up (eventually) in a diesel Xantia :p
That looks a gorgeous place. Almost as gorgeous as Northumberland :D
