Worcester 24CDI CH (Pilot light) Problem

Thanks for the info we have 7 radiators, the main combi is in the kitchen, it was serviced in Aug 05, but we have had a new gas meter installed and the gas guy did not turn the combi off when he exchanged the meters, maybe this has caused the problem? The combi is set at 1 bar and started acting up a couple days after the gas guy had been.
Advice appreciated.

Will this be ok to do when it is on or turn it off, and what will I be looking at because I dont really want to take it off in case something happens. Thanks

You check whether or not it's turning while the boiler is operating (somewhat obviously).

PLEASE NOTE that you should protect the boiler electrics from water ingress.

The pump on your boiler is shown below:

If in doubt then search for "bleeding" and "pump" elsewhere on the forum.

Hi again yes the pump is spinning (super fast) even when the light goes out. Might this part of how the 24CDI works or might it still be a problem. Thanks

Not really sure what this guys problem is,,, ie c/h or dhw. Yes i would look at the pump first, then the fan, and the venturi inside, then flame sensing device.

Although the later, should be done by a competant person as this involves taking the inner case off. 24CDI is a single speed fan unlike the 28cdi which is a twin speed.

Could also be air pressure switch not making, or the rubber tubes that have small holes in them. !

Its almost certainly, in my opinion, that the minimum gas pressure is set to low.

However this needs a CORGI registered engineer to test and reset so I cannot tell you how to do it.

Was going to say that next but not nes in that order Agile.

Experience tells me, too much info = danger!!!!!

Think of the exam questions that include all sorts of irrelevant info to put people off the track?

The answer is obtained by disregarding whats not relevant.

HI thanks for all your input here is the low down on the combi, I moved in to my house 1 month ago (combi already installed and serviced last Aug). No problem's as far as I can remember, then I got a new gas meter put in (pre-pay to quarterly) but the guy did not turn off the combi unit when he took the old meter out and put in the new meter, he then turned all the control knobs upto full but we had them on about 2 not the max. After that we started to notice that the flame detection indicator light was going off after a short while when we put on the C/H. The C/H temp control is up to the max the DHW is upto the max and the pressure goes upto about 1.5 when heating is on, no problems (even with the H/W). Then the flame detection indicator goes out after about 5 mins (is this normal) The radiators start to go abit cold until the flame detection indicator comes back on again and the radiators keep heating. When you turn on the H/W the light comes back on and the water heats up (no prob's there). I have checked the pump (no prob's there) but anything else might require pro help. Thanks, regards.

Why dont you put the CH temperature control knob back to position two as it was before the gas man came. You did nt have a problem then, so go back to your initial starting point . Then run your combi for a few days and see how it performs. Please post your findings in a couple of days and we will see what happens.

You are writing as if the boiler is controlled by the flame detection light!

When the boiler is firing the flame detection light comes on! It then cycles on and off as the boiler reaches temperature if the max CH setting is too high or the min gas rate is too high. In an ideal world the boiler would modulate down and run continiously at a low flame.

If it fails the flame failure indication shows ( flashing left hand red led ).

Does the flame FAILURE light come on?

My Worcester 24CDI CH (pilot light) is turning it's self off after about 5 mins, then back on again. I have used the filler key and re-pressured it to about 1.5, but the same thing is still happening whats wrong with it... Thanks
I'm confused by the following:

See what I mean?

I've seen Worcesters misbehaving when the pressure is wrong, so please could you answer these questions?

1. What is the pressure when the boiler is cold and off?
2. Was it cold and off when you re-pressurised to 1.5 bar?
3. What is the maximum pressure that is reached when the boiler is on?
4. Is there a red indicator hand that the installer put in position to show what the pressure should be?
5. Have you vented the system at all?

Thanks.
