And as Nickso says it's more likely to be the heat exchanger as the cold water supply is leaking across?

We have all told you that its most likely to be the plate leaking but it was GMG who told you first and within 7 minutes of asking!

I also suggested you change the diverter valve at the same time if you are going to try to do it yourself.

OK, I take your point.

I just don't want to waste £60-£80 on a HX to find it's not the cause and be back at square one.

I think we/you have established the cause now
