I've recently moved into a property and have encountered problems with the gas supply.
what about your pressure on boiler , dial on front of boiler .

is blue light normally on ( slow flash ) or normally off ( slow flash ) ?

The water pressure was near red so I bled the radiators until it got to 1.5. It stays on 2 until you turn it on and it drops to 1.5 the blue light flashes every 3 seconds when it's on

I've asked around. Probably won't go with British gas call out, stupid prices but I've got an idea of what I can mention if I can get hold of anyone

your blue light every 3 seconds won't help ;)

fault code -is blue light normally on ( slow flash )flashes off - or - normally off ( slow flash ) flashes on? + reset flash as mentioned

tell him that fault code and you'll have to give the call out and take it on the chin (y) , thats as much you can say apart from what you've already said

just re read your original post ,you said when you press re set button it does not respond. are you pressing and keep it pressed for 3 seconds. its the top button to left of pressure gauge .

Yes I've tried pressing the reset button and holding it down but it just keeps flashing

I've tried to reset it after a day of it being unplugged and it resets but then goes back to the flashing

Alex , after you press /hold the re set button, are you now saying the boiler does actually re set ,and does it try to ignite ,and then locks out again ?

Alex , after you press /hold the re set button, are you now saying the boiler tries to ignite ( you should hear noises like pump /fan ) and shortly after goes into reset mode ? sorry got distracted !!!

Yes. I left it unplugged for the day. Put the plug back in it attempted to start (plug/fan noises) then went into reset mode (slow blue flashing light + fast red reset light) I pressed the reset button for 3 seconds all the lights came on/fan noises then it went back into the same flashing lights (fault code)
