Hi.

On 2 separate occasions now my central heating system (Greenstar 30CDI) has come on without my input (there aren't any timers set either). I currently have the "desired temperature" on my Wave control set at 5 degrees but the display was showing around 19 degrees when the heating had come on. On both occasions, I've noticed that the Wave device has not been sitting in its housing unit correctly and had no power to it, so it would seem that when there is no power to the Wave device, the central heating turns on automatically!

Is that a normal function of the device? If so, can I prevent the heating from coming on should this happen again? (Although other family members have denied accidentally causing the unit to come off of its wall bracket, I should imagine that this must have happened as I wouldn't think the unit would fall off on its own, however it does appear to be easily knocked off...)

It shouldn't easily come off the wall bracket, as it 'locks' in position using a toggle slider. Check to see if that is locked in position. It may be worthwhile ringing Worcester Bosch technical with your query. I've fitted a few Waves and I've never come across your symptoms before.
