Basically he has a 6 shot pistol , (legally) . It has to be loaded with black powder type ammo .

The ban on hand guns would have effectively made all those fire arms held by collectors / antique dealers illegal . So afaik there was an excemption for these type of fire arms (hand guns)

Gun clubs took advantage of it and manufacture pistols that have to be loaded with black powder and fire a ball as opposed to a bullet
