Whilst it is running fine observe the side pipes when first starting the machine so you know what to expect to happen next time it stops working, also make a mental note of the timing i.e draining, filling then pumping/circulation.

Tilting trick would leave a puddle of water on the floor or symptoms would have been drain pump constantly pumping, so don't think that was your problem.
But as long as its working thats the main thing.
