Hello all

I have an ongoingproblem with my Washer/Dryer Machine. The model is Zanussizwt71201wa . The dryer part of this machine is not drying. Iarranged for an engineer to visit and resolve the issue but he hasbeen unsuccessful. He has visited 4 times.

First visit hereplaced Heater Element (I think)
Second visit replacedThermostat
Third visit replacedDryer Fan Motor
Fourth visit replacedfan Drying Motor Ventilator

It is still notworking. Does anyone have any ideals what it could be? I have attached the parts that have been replaced

Thanks
Ron

Are you sure he is an engineer? You never replace parts, to try to fix a problem, you diagnose and test, to determine which is THE faulty part, and replace, or repair that.

What is it doing, when set to dry?

If you are paying him every time he comes out then I would suggest it might be cheaaper to replace the machine. Is it about 8 years old. As others have said his competance is a bit questionable, unless it worked when he left after each visit and then fail again.

He is from a local firm that specialize in fixing domestic appliances
When I try to use the dryer, the machine will spin the clothes, but the dryer is cold and and no heat is coming through to dry the clothes

I didn't pay him everytime he visited, but I paid for the parts, and a couple of days labour. I agree, I would have got better value if I just purchased a new appliance,

Just an update to say this is now fixed. The same engineer revisited again for the 5th time. No parts were replaced. A loose connection on the final visit, seems to have been the problem

Not much of an engineer at all then, as confirmed by your final post. An engineer, would not have chucked parts at it, they would have diagnosed the loose connection. Your fault as you describe it, could only be a failed element, the over-heat tripped, a faulty pcb, or a bad connection - all easy to diagnose, and i am not 'an appliance engineer'. The fault should have been diagnosed in a few minutes, fixed, without resorting to replacing any parts.

I asked if the machine was left in a working condition after each visit to ascertain if it had been an intermittent fault. A bad connection might have been difficult to diagnose and, as a lot of appliance repairers do, parts that could have failed may have been replaced and remade the bad connection at the same time making him think he had fixed the machine. It would be unfair to judge him without more info.

Irrespective, you still don't carry out repairs of anything, by just assuming a part might be faulty, and replacing it. The parts suggested, having been replaced by the OP, would not have caused the dryer to fail to heat up anyway, rather it was a shotgun approach to diagnosis, keep replacing parts with expensive new ones, until the fault goes away.

That has never been a method, I have subscribed.

No disrespect Harry but in theory any of those parts could have caused a dryer to fail to heat either by cutting out due to poor airflow or lack of heat from the get go. I've worked in a similar envoironment and whilst I agree completely with you about not throwing parts at a machine you can be under a lot of pressure from your employers to meet far too many quotas around jobs/day, travel time, even selling parts. So an intermittent fault can make life very difficult.
