About three weeks ago I was contacted about doing a couple of days work for this chap. He was away from home but would be back for two weeks as of yesterday. As I had not seen the job we agreed an hourly rate.
I duly turned up today and started doing some of the work he had listed.
He was a young lad mid 20s with a very attractive wife. She went out at about 13:00 and he told me that he had to go out at about 15:00. He told me to just pull the back-door shut if I was finished before he got back. The doors had euro locks so I would not be able to lock it.
At about 15:15 I finished doing some caulking and went to the car for a cloth. Could not find a single piece of rag. Thought I would use a bit of kitchen roll but when I looked around the kitchen there was none.
So, I opened the top draw, nothing, second draw, nothing, third draw...
After I packed up and left, I had this horrible thought, what if someone let themselves in and nicked the money. Who would be the most obvious person the plod would arrest.
What would you have done or what should I have done?
