Thin singles for steel conduit

Out of interest how would you plan to draw additional cores through the existing conduit?

I’ll use the existing wires to pull the new ones.

Smart bulbs may be a better solution

Yes, that is another possibility. I have plenty of options, I just posted this question because I wondered if I could make things easier using thinner-than-typical wires.

The smallest conduit I've come across is aluminium 10mm internal and even that will accept 4 x 1mm² with ease.

The smallest steel is 16mm which I'd guess is suitable for 10 1.0mm² singles, I'd expect to be able to add a couple more to the existing 2 over a fair distance just by pushing them in.

This all assumes the conduit is complete and not obstructed with plaster or knotted cables etc.

There is always the vacuum cleaner and a piece of thin string too.

Just how many conductors are you trying to get down the conduit?

And how big is the conduit?

How many of the switches are two way?

If all of them were two way you could get away with 8 singles for a three way switch if you were able to re-jig the wiring.

Is it important to not disturb the decoration?
What is a three way switch?

I presume he meant 3-gang 2-way.
Yes, it was just a brain fart.
Rist knows I'm not from the US, or a DIYer.
I did mean 3 gang, not 3 way.

I know it was confusing for the OP and other DIYers to read.

Anyhow, I've edited my post now in bold to avoid further confusion.

Thanks, John (and Sunray!)

I wouldn't be so worried, I was out for a meal a short while back and one of the fortune cookies read: "Critics make the worst mistakes". Certainly seems to be the case with some of ours.

Indeed -that was presumably obvious to nearly all of us!

I would imagine that even he was able to understand that, but he seems to enjoy 'trying to be clever'!
It wasn't clear at all to me. I wasn't sure whether he was referring to an intermediate switch or otherwise

That's precisely what the Americans call an intermediate, so it was a fair assumption.
Did you assume he is he American then?

As you are not as clever as you boast, I'll help with your education with a youtube video by an American presenter:

No, I didn't assume that he was American. I simply sought clarification as to what exactly he meant by a "3-way" switch, given that no such thing exists. It's not difficult to understand, unless you are intellectually challenged.

But you indicate that was what you assumed
