Pinzy: You could improve that arrangement at very little cost by fitting a mini-consumer unit - such as the "Square D" shower supply enclosure (approximately £24). It comprises a 63A/30mA RCD and a 45A MCB.

The work would necessarily entail the pulling of the main service fuse, which, depending on your 'skills', you might decide to leave to an electrician.

Are you sure, by the way, that the shower cable is 10mm and not 6mm? I've seen your photo of course, but my eyesight isn't what it used to be....

Thanks for your suggestion and Yes I would leave to an expert...not ready to die yet :D

I say it's 10mm as that's what's written on the cert which the EB did. Visually, it is a monster of a cable close up and a bugger to bend.

Maybe I can take a picture at the weekend but quite sure we have 10mm cable.
