2.5 mm Earth bond on msins water

OK. I cannot really be bothered with all arguing with installer of cu.

I take it £440 for consumer unit supply and fit is very reasonable.

Then £100 extra to do earth bonding. It's about 5 meters away.

So be £540 with bonding upgrade

Then £70 to split into radials with 2 x 20 amp

£630 in total for this.

This still sound very reasonable ?

.
Yes very reasonable

So the bond getting upgraded tomorrow and the circuit split with eicr.

Pay the extra £170 and say no more.about it.

If a spark can give eicr would this not mean they are competent ?

Do they have to register to give these out ?

Not necessarily. We see plenty of EICRs which give rise to considerable doubt about the competence (and/or honesty) of the person providing it.
Do they have to register to give these out ?
No - and that's the problem.

OK I have been giving a Eicr but nothing else .

No electrical installation certificate or part p.

Should I ask if I am getting these ?

Could it effect anything in future ?

This bloke is taking the wee wee.
I feel that . Do you suggest I do not pay him for the £100 earth bonding upgrade etc ?

Would I not be robbing him then ?

I think he has gone the wrong way about his business although.

And worried about others documents I should be supplied with.

I think he should have given you both documents, the EICR and an EIC for the board change, plus notification regarding compliance with Part P.

I don't think he should have changed the board and then told you the bonding needed doing.

That is contrary to regulations.

Yes even I can see now it's obvious you should check bonding first. Seems common sense really.

If I said I do not have more money it would of been a problem.

Abit annoyed as insurance was paying for it and he gave quote. Changed board got paid money off insurance then I had to pay for the bond which I would not of had to do if he stated this first. The insurance would of

I also wondered when I first read that - but, on reflection, I presume that secure meant that the inadequacy of bonding which was 'contrary to regulations' (which is true), not 'changing the board without first telling that the bonding needed attention'.

Common sense.

I think the only regulations would be general ones regarding the bonding conductors. Everyone knows that they are very likely to require an increase in size.

After all, I don't expect there is a specific regulation stating that a CU should not be replaced if there is no earthing conductor.
