Glad all solved. Father-in-law had one of the automatic doors fitted, lost count of how many times I have knocked on his door or phoned him to say the door was left open, he lives next door but one.
When first fitted there was no key release. Had to call fitters back, seems most garages have a side door, but his did not, consumer unit in the garage, so if fuse was to blow would need to smash open the door to renew fuse. Could not believe what they had done. Now there is an emergency key release seems you unlock and pull and it pulls out a pin which then allows you to manually open door.
