Can any please help on wiring a replacement 3 way light socket, photos are of existing and the last one is the one I want to install, I'm a little confused as to whats going on in the existing.
As above you cannot connect a metallic switch plate to an unearthed circuit.
So do you have earth conductors at the plate/box and if so do they actually function as a path to earth?
What ever went into A goes into the Com connection of the righthand switch.
Whatever went into A1 goes into L1 of the righthand switch
Whatever went into A2 goes into L2 of the righthand switch
Whatever went into B goes into the Com connection of the centre switch.
Whatever went into B1 goes into L1 of the centre switch
Whatever went into B2 goes into L2 of the centre switch
What ever went into C goes into the Com connection of the lefthand switch.
Whatever went into C1 goes into L1 of the lefthand switch
Whatever went into C2 goes into L2 of the lefthand switch
If any individual switch appears to operate in reverse to the desired mode then swap over the respective L1 and L2 wires
Number ALL wires before you disconnect any more wires or you'll end up in a right mess.
There appears to be a plastic terminal block in one of your photos. If this contains the "earth" wires (bare copper or green/yellow sleeved) then you need to connect these to the switch earth terminal and also the metal box terminal. If this does not contain earth wires then you cannot use a metal faced switch. If you did, it will still function but there is the danger of electrocution if the switch develops an internal fault.
Thanks for the info, there is a terminal block with a green earth wire, the wire is screwed to the back casing of the metal box, assuming earthing the back box?.
Just one?
I would expect more than that at least 3, double check they are not all in one sleeve.
Did you make a note of the originally connections at each terminal of old switch plate?
