Is my friend's plan to hide the cooker switch that isolates the hob within the cooker hood's duct cover a bad idea? As said before, the hood is likely to be used with just filters rather than connecting ducting to vent outside. I'm thinking steam/moisture may be an issue, but I don't know how much will acumulate in a hood.

May be back later to ask what diversity is.

Yes it does sound a bad idea. Why not just leave the switch where it is ?

Diversity basically means you won't have all 4 rings on maximum power at one time.

Should we use a 30 amp standard junction box to connect the hob's 5 wires to the 2.5mm (currently terminates in a standard single socket) T&E behind the hob's base unit? Or something else?
Get a cooker outlet.

First 10A plus 30% of the remainder of the full load current.

It is a formula devised to determine the average current of cooking appliance elements which - even when switched on - are more often off than on because of the thermostats regulating the temperature.

At the moment the cooker switch is just on it's cables coming out of the wall, not fixed. It's located in the area of where the hood's telescopic duct cover will go. Think he was hoping to hide the ugly switch rather than have it on display.

Poss if he used a smaller cooker switch - present one is large with built in socket - with one that goes in single pattress/wall box, maybe better. But if he's insistent on putting swich in duct cover - hood should be ducted to vent through wall?
