68p

Is that how much it costs to use a public loo these days? I remember being mortified at having to pay 50p to use one in a posh store in the 80's - even Harrods doesn't charge you know

Diana Crash Snappers Fined 68p
The photographers who chased Diana the Princess of Wales on the journey in which she died have been fined 68p. The sum was dished out by a Paris appeals court for invasion of privacy.

"Cheeseburger please"

"Coming right up. {tap tap tap} 69 please"

"No thanks, just the cheeseburger".

Actually, at Harrods you can pay to use a "luxury washroom"...

I know this as I used to live round the corner and whilst buying bread and milk (honestly, it is much cheaper than the corner shop!) I once decided I needed to go. I think it was about £2 to use the posh loo, so I just waited till I got home.

you have to pay to use a public toilet? What a rip!

That's the thing... we don't really have many public toilets anymore! Vandalism resulted in many being closed, and innovations such as the "super loo" which provide a more pleasant toilet experience have negated their need. Thing is, a lack of public toilets combined with our penchant for heavy drinking results in a lot of public-urination at the weekends. Illegal here, but when you've got to go...

Of course, the paying toilets could be "public toilets" in the sense of "public schools" (you might want to look up the English definition of public school ;) )

your english or mine? ;)

Dr Johnson's or Mr Webster's?

I said "English", not "American English" :p

lol

You try using Internet Explorer with it's "Favorites" menu, or MS Office that tries to default back to "US ENGLISH" everytime you turn your back.

Or when you get to a piece of software or website and it offers you the choice of "English" with a stars-and-stripes flag next to it... Some have got a more politically correct half-union flag, half-stars-and-stripes flag now.

GRRRRR

Really? I never saw a luxury one when I was there last. They were all free and extremely palatial too. We noticed loads of food was cheaper there and came home with tons of stuff

Hubby hates telling me he's off to London for the day as he knows I'll send him to Mr Al Fayed's food halls
