A life sentence that actually means life.

Ok sooey, so in your world, this person should have millions of taxpayers money, your money if you are employed, spent on sessions with a psychiatrist in some hospital, in an effort to understand why they committed this act, and then try to cure them ? Can't see how this would help anyone.

Did sooey say that? I think you are referring to what MM wrote. Say sorry to sooey.

Oh blinkin beggar Sooey I do truly apologise!!! Good spot DIY

The whole problem today is of course , the do gooding, Guardianista's in this country who see no wrong with any criminal.
The endless excuses roll out. " He had nothing to do. " "She was bored." He was only trying to maim the victim, not kill him."
"He didn't realise some defenceless OAP would have been in the house at 1.00am in the morning when he broke in, and was frightened of being recognised so he beat them senseless. " Etc etc ad nauseum.

Until we as a society realise the need for real deterrents and less of this human rights nonsense, we are doomed to spend our old age in fear.
It's a real shame and indictment on society that more time is given to the human rights of a criminal than is ever afforded to the rights of the victims.

Latest from the Conservative Party Conference. The call has gone up to make criminals work 40hrs a week and for their pay to go towards the victims. The do gooders are no doubt up in arms now. Seething at the injustice of making some scumbags actually do some physical or useful work.

Government have complained about overcrowded prisons, soft sentences etc. Easy answer,,, build more prisons, give these criminals meaningful sentences.
If they don't want to work whilst in prison? OK then let them starve. Make prison a harsh environment that they don't want to be in. Make them realise there are consequences to their actions.

Rant over I'm afraid. If I go much further, I think the veins in my neck will explode. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Iv'e been locked up, joyrider, 70s, bored, ok, no excuse, i needed to work in prison, because of the boredom, it sends you daft, 2 or 3 in a cell , you fight like cat and dog.

Some people die.

Work has been available in certain prisons for years, i learned how to use a sowing machine, mailbags, also done them by hand, 2 a day, 8 stiches to the inch, made loft ladders, pegs for the Army camping, this is nothing new that this silly gov is trying.

It's okay some people come up with suggestions, but iv'e seen both sides of your imagination.

how do people feel about the burden of proof?
my feelings about this are well documented on here, but there's always that small doubt you may have the wrong man (or woman) even with a confession....

Where is the room for doubt in this case?

precisely, he even had the nerve to ring the services himself, tell them he was done with killing her and sat around to wait and be arrested.

Whatever is/was going through the mind of that bloke is nothing but madness and will benefit no other person in anyway whatsoever.

And to the bloke who has been in the nick, what is it that stopped you carrying on doing the deed.

Prisoners should be kept in solitary confinement 23/7 with one hour association time a day and no contact with the world outside.

Gives them time to think about themselves and what they want out of life IMO.

Burden???????????
How do the 'representatives of justice' (and the mickeymoody's of this world) even begin to live with the 'burden' of having to face the broken hearted parents of children raped, tortured and murdered, by serial scumbag sexual offenders, and justify why they were released back into the community, free to re-offend.?????

Complete Madness.

This character does make a perfect case for the death penalty, though I'm sure there'll still be some lily livered gobsh*tes who think differently.
I agree with woody though, doing him in quick would be too good for him.
Maybe bring back some of the old medieval methods.

How does he? There are so many people that think that there are so many colours of white, but there isn't black and white? Have you ever heard or dealt with mental health issues? Do you understand these issues in modern society? or do you want to go around murdering people indisciminary, at your discretion? So WHO is the mental nutcase murdering people, the person that did it, or the person that advocated to kill the person that did it? Who is the butcher?

mickymoody how would you feel is this poor young girl was your daughter? i must admit you dont half talk some pish on here.. pass me the gun i would not hesitate in putting a bullet in the evil b*****d head, or better still let him loose on main population where he would last 5 minutes if he was lucky, instead off putting him on rule 43 where he can swap storys with other evil b*****ds. infact lets go as far as rule 43 being barred for nonces bet that would bring the crime level down for this sick perverted s**t that happens.... sorry had to get it off my chest

the death sentence is a funny one to deal with,as in other peoples posts, what about the people that are wrongly convicted of murder, put to death and then 6 months later, new evidence comes to light and they are pardoned...wont help the dead person who was murdered for a crime they didnt do!

Harsher prisons, hard labour, public humiliation and regular floggings is the way forward. At least that way if somebody is aquitted, they wont be dead!

But if they were dead, they would not be able to sue for breach of their Human Rights.

It costs a lot more to keep a murderer in prison than it does to top them. Bring back hanging.

i would hope that if somebody had been convicted for a crime they did not commit, spent 5 years in prison, lost their house, job etc that they would sue the bo****ks off the state!! because acquitted means you did not do it! so it would be a breach of human rights to be locked up for so long only then to be acquitted and told 'oh sorry, it wasnt you'

If they had been hung and then found innocent, well thats not going to help them is it.
