A Lofty Question...

"but running one wire from the switch and then splitting means that one wire is carrying the load for two lights into the split connector "

and that one cable from the switch could feed to 20 lights each with a 60w bulb and still be OK

Okay - you are all defo right. Nothing to worry about the wires, I think is the 1mm stuff I am using. And household lights are kind daisy chained and so nothing to worry about. And you are right about the MCB stuff. Fanks.

How I can test this prior to going into the loft? Will be bringing a workman along (knows now't about elecy) and wanna test it before I get his help sticking the lighting rig it in the loft (he charges by the hour so need to ensure its all working before I call him in).

If I am away from the loft at the mo - can I wire it up and plug it into the mains to test it? Or would I have to find a lighting socket and connect it to that?

This thread is either trolling, or the OP is so incompetent they should be nowhere near electrics or anything else.
I am afraid is the latter - am generally incompetent (sigh and shoulders drop). But also am a hopeless optimist that with a little guidance a lot can be learnt for the betterment of everyone.

However, can I stick a plug onto the lighting rig and plug it in the mains to test it all works? I assume these battons or these battons can be plugged into the socket mains to test the connections are working? (or will their internal wiring and fuses break as as lighting circuits are lower tolerances)?

Split connection being the wago box to the two lights.

But, Does anyone know how I get the wago connectors out of these box slots? I pushed them into the slots and can't get them out now.... am I missing a trick?

Got -em out with plyers and a lot of yanking - crazy design.

Loft lighting project went well. Thanks to the suggestion of the tube. Light and floor coming along. Will upload some pics. Fanks to the contributors for setting me straight(!)

The LED batton made all the difference. Highly recommended.

Cables from/ to switch need clipping to the joist. And the Junction box to the left of the light should not be hanging like that.IMG_20240529_150913_DRO.jpg

Thanks for feedback. The grey wago junction bag isn't hanging, there is a clip to the rear that secure it to the wood.
