There are more than you (probably) think. Beside the official number of those unemployed, there are those claiming all the various sickness benefits, which far exceeds the official unemployed number. Add sickness to official unemployed and you have the real jobless total. The majority of sickness claimants are not sick at all. Governments are ashamed of unemployment and would rather shift people into other categories.
I can understand if you live in the South and don't believe this! Up North, there are families who have been claiming for generations, and who reproduce prodigiously purely to bring in more benefits. There are parents who, having had children for the benefit payments, then hold their children back educationally so as to make them backward and needing special care - which brings in more benefit money! Don't believe me? You won't see any of this in official government statistics; you have to see it first hand.
You can claim sick payments for being fat, being an alcoholic and being a drug addict. Yes, being a drug addict. Think about that: being paid by the government for wilfully breaking that government's laws. Bet you don't believe it though.
