Guys, thanks for the feedback.
There's more than enough there for me to be getting on with. I take the point that my four year old will get used to it, and she has. It's just when other kids come around; I couldn't live with myself if one of them went head first onto the patio.
Granted, if I'd have thought of this earlier I would have put the posts in when I was building the sleeper wall. But not having done ANYTHING like this before, I just didn't think about it.
Also, want the best option that's easy to fit, and without wrecking the new turf! Don't want to go back to this!
