Air lock?

After a bit of investigation I've found that 22mm feed and return upstairs reducing to 15mm before feeding a bathroom radiator upstairs and the 4 radiators (2 old, 2 new) downstairs as per diagram. This was obviously too much for the size of pipe.

What I have done is leave the 15mm pipework in place and capped off the branches that tee off to downstairs (therefore the bathroom radiator is still supplied on the same pipework.

I then tee'd off on the 22mm pipework (a foot before it reduces to 15mm) with 22mm plastic pipe. This feed and return follow the floor joists and then go downstairs (following a similar route to the original 15mm). I have also replaced all the existing 15mm with 22mm downstairs.

I am having further problems though. There does not seem to be any flow from the existing pipework into the new pipework, while all the original 22mm and 15mm pipework gets roasting the new pipework remains stone cold.

I'm pulling my hair out now, any advice would be great, if you need more info let me know.

Pump: Grundfos Super Selectric UPS15-60
No of radiators: 14 (approx 1700 x 600 mm)

you do not mention that you bled the rads, have you?

also what happens if you "severly loosen" a rad joint, does water flow?

Rads and pump have all been bled, no problems!!!!

I had slackened off the rad valves and there doesn't appear to be a blockage, I can tell you it's a good job they don't have carpets ;). After drawing a significant amount of water from the valves the flow pipework starts to get progressively warm along the pipe, porportionate to the volume of water drawn off. It doesn't warm the rads though.

Just incase it confuses anyone, the problem I had originally with the old rad not warming up was due to a clogged valve.

One thing I did think was that the pump may not be powerful enough of may be faulty, it appears to work though and is on the maximum setting.
