Aircraft boarding etiquette

There are always people who take the pee 3 bags when 2 are allowed. Wheelie bags as under seat luggage.
Most 'cabin bags' are carefully sized these days to meet the regulations, and some have wheels.
Under seat luggage? When was the last time you flew?
Sure, it's an option, but most goes in the overhead lockers these days.

I believe handbags don't count, and are allowed. But obviously anyone taking the pee would be asked to do something with them.
Also duty free is allowed as extra.

Some airlines are weighing passengers, but it's a bit controversial.

We were asked to put our soft cabin bag under the seat

suggest you look at ryan air/easy jet and see what your allowed and yep it tells you bag must fit under seat unless you want to pay extra

From what I've heard about EJ, you book your flight, turn up at the airport and as you are boarding they ask if you would like to purchase a seat to put your bag under.

They aren’t so bad. I tend to choose carriers based on the flight times and airport so sometimes I choose EJ or veiling, because of the time.

But yes. You now pay extra to use the overhead locker and even to have an aisle seat. They come round the gate lounge checking bags and tickets. If you don’t have the right tag they will gouge you for £40 if it don’t fit.

I can remember the days when you got a hot meal and an alcoholic drink thrown in with the price of a ticket, even on charter flight operator 'Dan Dare' (Dan Air) flights. On our recent flight to Spain with BA, unless we wanted to buy some food or drink, all we got a cup of water and a cereal bar! Mind you, we did get hold luggage allowance, overhead locker allowance and under seat luggage allowance.

Skytrain was a fun flight and i remember they served steak for breakfast on TWA. I was never a fan of drinking alcohol on a flight, though. Too many trips to a tiny cubicle are best avoided, in my experience.

seats at the back of the plane for smokers and free cigarettes given out on long haul flights

I used to go to Genova quite a lot with BA. I got two breakfasts, one on the early flight from Edinburgh to Gatwick, and another on the next flight, Gatwick to Genova. Sadly, it doesn't happen these days.

I've never used Ryan Air, nor E/J so I've no idea of their practices nor policies.

A lot of long haul flights now are requiring payment for seat bookings.
If you don't pay, you get what you're given.

Yep correct you have no idea
Careful. I've been excluded from a couple of threads for personal attacks. I can only assume I'm being penalised for nwgs and motorbiking being abusive toward me.
So please don't abuse me, I don't want to be excluded from more threads.

After an eventful check-in (at Bucharest) I've come to the conclusion that it's best to be first on. Walked straight from 2nd security check to gate, flashed the boarding pass and walked straight through to seat. Then waited for 2&1/2 hours whilst the rest of the passenger's turned up...
Recent flight with squeezy jet was a relevation - only one bag in cabin, including handbags for the girlies; if the handbag didn't go in the cabin bag then they had a choice either hold or don't fly. Caused a few issues at the check-in desk but didn't half speed up boarding and seating.
