OT but relates to the UK government's tendency for inaction. I was watching some of the live footage from the houses of parliament today ... yeah rock and roll that's me
They were debating three Chinese 'police stations' that have opened, two in England one in Scotland. There are concerns re activities being carried out in the UK orchestrated from these stations. Hong Kong and Chinese people living here either permanently or temporarily (e.g. students) have been targeted in various ways.
In short, the activity shouldn't be happening on our shores.
The same has happened in other countries and, once they found out, they acted relatively quickly with a view to ensuring these places are closed down. In Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon has ordered an urgent assessment of the one in Glasgow.
UK Government's reaction? Yes they're aware and taking it 'very seriously', however nothing appears to be happening in any sort of accelerated manner. As one MP put it, if this was a UK 'police station' acting without authority in China, how long do we think it would last once the Chinese government caught wind of it.
We're a joke. Waffle waffle waffle. No wonder these countries look on us as useful idiots.
As another MP put it, we started to debate a third runway for Heathrow literally decades ago ...
