Having lived in The States for a while, I can tell you that you would be disappointed with the candy and chocolate if you are used to British and European sweets.

For example, beacause their chocolate bars are sold in many states that have high average temperatures, they put wax in the chocolate to stop it melting.

There are many aspects that are great about The USA, and in most states its a fantastic lifestyle (much better than this carppy little island!), but the food isn't really that good.

But then again, if I could get my hands on some Reese's Peanut Butter Cups mmmmmm.

I can go along with what you have said, their dairy produce is rubbish, butter is nothing like ours, they don't use brown eggs for anything other than baking, their beer is not a patch on our best brews. I could go on but have not got enough time.

Yes, forgot about the beer. I like real ale, so it was difficult to get along with yanky beer. Not only is it $hite, but its so weak. If a Bud is 5% in The UK, then it must be about 2% in US. I have driven home in States after about 5 or 6 bottles of Coors, because its so weak. Would have wrapped car around a lamp post if I tried this at home.

I think that because the beer is so weak, the yanks still have prohibition - its just that no one has told them yet!

Ditto that too...its vile and you'd think with all those pigs farms out there they would have it sorted.

I agree about the choclate too..its vile..theres a Brand called 'Hersheys'..try it, just for the experience!!

Its amazing but the in the home of the hotdog their sausages aint very nice either.

The butter isnt very nice

And the beer, albeit very cold isnt a patch on 'ours'...I think if you gave a yank a pint of Stella he would collapse!

And strangley enough the KFC's Mac Donalds and Burger King are the worst ive had anywhere and didnt compare to the ones here..nor did the Subway shops..

That said.....

The pure orange jiuce it the finest I have ever tasted as is the fudge cakes, and most definately the steaks..I dont know how they do them but they are first class.

I wish I could just find some A1 steak sauce over here (originally a British product by the way!

Agreed on the steaks, really thick and juicy and tasty and massive!

How many times do you have steak here thats either dry or bland tasting?

They grow oranges in florida - my gran had an orange tree in the back garden when she lived there.

I went to France and had two steaks there in different places. Both were amazing. Never had a decent steak like that here.

Maybe the quality of meat is to do with the way they "ranch" their cattle and other red meat animals, all for the lowest cost.

I'd love to take an American out drinking in Doncaster on a saturday night  I think a night out here is a totally different experience to anything they do in the states.

You'd think with such high standards of hospitality, the food would be top notch, but its not.

Best steak I ever had was in Prague, with New York coming a close second :D

depends on how you have it cooked and who cooks it.

anything other than blue steak cooked by a chef who knows what he is doing is a waste of time IMO. a very good piece of meat cooked rare is almost acceptable.

a "well done" steak eater might as well save his money and eat the table.
