Johnson just playing politics.

I would try a combination of the carrot approach and stick but not be focused on meeting targets.

Making it harder for everyone else to live their lives so we can apprehend illegal immigrants is defeatist.

Entry , Exit checks, better border security and having people not ideological driven to sort this out.

I wouldn't demonise these people, just send them home after collecting their biometric data.

More border security equals more jobs, Win! Win! Situation

I wouldn't want an amnesty but perhaps a cut-off period where we deal with the illegal immigrants who are here already a bit more kindly and should be looked at case by case. For an example of kindness I'd hate to see families ripped apart, children suffer because of the bad choice their parents made. Equally I would hate to see illegal immigrants who have committed serious crimes be able to stay under an amnesty blanket.

If illegal immigrants are given a green card they are able to work legally, pay taxes and contribute to the UK.

Simple, declare an amnesty and then when they show up arrest them and thrown them in a cramped cell where they are given no food or water until deportation. If the host country doesn't want them back, shoot them or put them in a forced labour camp.

These people are here illegally, they have broken our laws, what is the point of having laws if they are going to be broken? Have they contributed to the system by paying taxes? Have they been working cash in hand depriving our workforce of jobs? I do not want them receiving benefits that I have paid for over the last 30 odd years, I want the money to go towards the NHS and OUR homeless! I also want foreign aid scrapped! We have put enough money in the pockets of Tinpot Dictators and CEOs! Also the last time I looked, the human race was not on the endangered species list! They are breeding like rabbits and taking away the wildlife habitat!

I'm self employed, I have two houses and am selling this one in a couple of months and moving into the other one which I have to live in for 18 months to avoid paying £120,000 CGT, with the money I get from this one I am buying a plot of land and building another house, apart from fitting a new garage door to the other house you are correct, I have no work to do today other than fit the plastic around the door, sorry, what work have you got?

Have you ever worked cash in hand? If not have you ever paid someone cash in hand for work?

They are here illegally and I would look at each case individually. I suspect the vast majority would be deported. But treat them as humans.

Getting emotional and ideological will not resolve this.

And that is a very valid point.

Those who appear to hate immigrants have 'reds unders the beds' syndrome because they have been told that is the case.

In the same way that they believe claims that all these 'foreigners' are bleeding the NHS dry, when in fact 'Health tourism' only amounts to 0.3% of NHS spending.

Politicians know how to agitate stupid people for their own aims, and inevitably it is the stupid people that suffer the most as a result...

They are kept stupid by design of course, so I accept they cannot be held fully responsible for their own stupidity!
