Approved Voltage Indicator ?

T&E isn't double insulated cable in the true sense of the definition. Nicked cables, or squashed, pinched, crushed cables, or intermittent faults due to foorboard movement maybe rare, so it's all about risk management. Anyway, all I'm saying is that a decent quality volt stick like the Fluke is small, light, clips to a pocket and can be kept about the person all day without any trouble. Seems to be no good reason not to carry one and have something to hand which is pretty reliable.

Can't say I ever have had that happen, with double insulated cables?

Can you actually call a twin and earth cable double insulated? The outer sheath is there for mechanical protection and not for insulation from voltage unlike 25mm double insulated tails.

OK, I meant sheathed - too early in the morning!, but still haven't seen that happen before. How would a volt stick help in that situation anyway if the "lend" only happens when someone stands on a floorboard above the broken part of the cable? Do you need to hold the volt stick there whilst you have someone walk around the building stamping their feet?

I've also never seen that happen in all my years in the trade.

How many years do you have in the trade Fing?

Obviously a lot more than you if you've never come across pinched cables in taped together bunches laid in shallow notches. Either that or you've been charging for fault finding and not doing your job properly. A Mister NFF are you (No Fault Found)?

Ah but perhaps we might be talking about quality rather than quantity.

Before I answer the question though, perhaps you could offer an opinion as to whether or not say 20 years means twice as good as 10 years, or 30 years means 3 times as good as 10 years.

And before you finish, can you also offer an opinion as to whether or not your dad is bigger than my dad and aso if you smell.

Judging by some of the lack of understanding of faults, risk management etc. I would say that neither RF or Sparky123 can apply sufficient thought to ever be good fault finders. I'm suprised you're both still alive. Sheltered lives I guess. :D

Only after you tell me why you came to this conclusion?
