I normally see the ozone story as a positive one, that action can make a difference at the global scale. It just requires commitment and effort. The '"we're all doomed" club aren't good at that.

That's nonsense. California still has the power to set its own standards and it, and associated states, have enough of the US market to make non compliant cars uneconomic. Trump tried to take it away but lost in court. They're only going to pile onto the green wave. The infrastructure investment into EV manufacturing isn't going away either.Some of this green caper will be rolled back in the states or just dumped in particular in the automotive industry

You do know that was the plan? Apart from the battery pack. When they announced it in 2022 they were expecting to be loss making until 2026.
