are patio heaters ethically acceptable?

Spain, has many bars.. Almost all of them choose to ignore the ban on smoking. The authorities turn a blind eye. Yet here in the UK, you've only got to stand in the bloody doorway with a cigarette in your mouth , and some jobsworth from the council threatens the landlord with a massive fine. Enough said. ;)

You're obviously more experienced than I, in these matters.

Owners of bars in Spain used to allow smoking under the old 'no smoking' policies which allowed owners of premises under 100sq/m to decide whether to implement the ban or not, This changed a few years back.

Hotels are allowed to put 30% of rooms aside for 'smokers'.

It always amuses me when someone uses this argument.

Because the country they use as an example, always has a much higher corruption score than the UK.

It's almost as if a country that ignores laws, is more likely to be corrupt, how strange

And somehow this is desirable.......

Of course it's desirable, sexy señoritas, sun and San Miguel, who cares about corruption? :)

Two things to note:-

1) Before the ban came in, we were promised (politicians and their promises  ) pubs that could have designated smoking bars/rooms/areas.

2) Other countries still allow smoking in pubs, with vary restrictions, eg. Czech Rep. - pubs can either be totally smoking or non, Poland - pubs over a certain sq. footage can have a designated smoking area, Germany - seems to more or less please itself, but many pubs are completely smoking. Needless to say, the pubs in these three countries are busy and thriving.

OK, do I need to search on your previous comments to find a post of yours to suggest how backward Eastern European countries are?

P*ss off you troll.

You can search you muppet, but you'll find nothing. First, these countries aren't in Eastern Europe.

Secondly, I regularly visit CZ and Poland, which are in a much better position than us, as they're not importing half the third world like we are.

So grow up and find something better to do.
My oh my, you turned from a reasonable debater to an unreasonable insulting person. Is it the lateness of the hour, or the amount of imbibing one has done?

Threatening to go through people's old posts to dig up some non-existant dirt, is slightly obsessive and the classic, hallmark behaviour of a troll.

I enjoy a debate, moan or leg pull as much as the next man. I'm not interested in feeding the warped egos of professional trolls.

I've cut off your food source by putting you on ignore. You can waste your time replying if you want to.

Aaron's right.

The usual procedure is for trolls to either get fed up and go away (especially if ignored by all normal members) or to be banned.

Then they adopt a different name and reappear.

The best thing to do, once a new member is showing troll-like behaviour, is to simply ignore their posts. We all know that but, I admit, it is sometimes difficult not to respond to their cr@p.

I may have mentioned this before.

Telling a poster how many people are ignoring him or her can be effective at de-trolling a forum. Though some trolls will try to get the highest "ignore" count without realising it means no one is listening to them.

That's because they're like re-usable condoms.
(A bit thick!)

I think that's a good idea, though, but how can we ascertain that number other than each person putting him on 'ignore' saying that they are doing that? I suppose someone could set up a new thread naming one individual and asking those who use the ignore button to add their usernames.
