Are these meter tails labelled correctly? *PIC*

watching that video right now.. these meggers are awesome..
voltage, frequency and phase rotation tests on a socket are a doddle
The RCD tests are awesome - and also look quite easy. Passing these will give peace of mind

Yes, that is a good meter but I prefer Fluke 1600 series. Just a personal preference.
I wouldn't say any is more difficult to use than others.

I haven't watched the video but it is bound to be good as it it from Mr.Ward - who happens to be Flameport. :)

Having just seen your latest reply, perhaps you know more than I thought - if you know what all of those things mean.

lol - wow - it's a small world

well done @flameport - I know I'm not your intended audience but I'm finding your videos extremely interesting and educational. You obviously are an expert in all things electrical. All the kit you have set up to enable you demonstrate and test things is equally awesome.

He quoted for a full rewire.
That is always an option, but not always necessary.

Old wiring doesn't automatically mean it has to be replaced, it depends on the condition of it. Flat PVC insulated will last pretty much forever, with the exceptions of where it's been overloaded, physically damaged or is of the type which has the green slime due to the plasticiser reacting with the copper.

That old fusebox certainly needs replacement, but that's nothing like a full rewire.

the cable is a silver stranded type
Tinned copper, very common for installations up to the early 1980s.
Nothing wrong with it as a cable, and in many cases will be suitable for continued use.

rather than hire one - I bought one.

Bought a fluke 1651 from fleabay (not calibrated). It's an old and basic MFT but wasn't too bad price wise @£150
I figured I'd rather have one for longer than a week. If I find that I never use it I'll sell it back on fleabay and recoup some of the cash

Calibration will cost another £60. Havent received it yet.. it's winging its way in the post
