Atheism is the 'real' enemy of the west?

Norcon, I don't spend much time in your cess pit of indulgance.... so please look out for me passing by so we might explore your evil anti atheist rant..

regards....

If, as Norcon maintains, atheists are responsible for all the trouble and unrest in the world, why has there been such enmity for thousands of years, even before atheism became popular in recent times?

It is not surprising that religion causes war. Religious beliefs and practices are of ultimate importance to those of that religion and when one religion's rules are in conflict with those of another the inevitable outcome is fighting it out in an attempt to convert the opposition to the 'true faith'.

Fortunately, today's organised religions (with one notable exception) seem to be growing out of this mediaeval way of life, although it seems we have still not completely achieved perfection...

...atheism!

Are you sure? There are many ways of destroying people without committing homicide.

Exactly you believe in nothing (apart from the immoral priniciples of westernized living) and stand up for jack sh@it.

Arrogant nonsense.

I am an atheist and I have never had a relationship outside of marriage. Have never stolen or deceived anyone and have done everything to ensure my children behave morally and with respect.

The Church certainly has no claim on morality whatsoever ask The pope and his clan of child abusers.
The current Archbishop of Cantebury wants to play at being a politician.

BUT the most telling thing about religion comes accross emphatically from yourself in that people with religion somehow think they are better than anyone else.

You are not . . .

The nice thing about being an Atheist is that you can stand up for what you feel is right and not what you are told is right.

The thing that separates all religions and atheism (given the fact that they all feel superior and justified than each other) is what books you quote from to try to sound convincing and intellectual. Throw in the usual bit of dirt to muddy the waters and hey presto, you can go to bed feeling mighty proud of yourself.

Another nice thing about being an Atheist is that if you do a good deed, then you know that you didn't do it for fear of burning in hell

Yep - you've done it purely for goodwill and a potential customer (who you can rip off for a shed load of money, 'cos they think you're one of the good guys   )

Now that depends on what your interpretation of "Rip Off" is... There are some who would feel that they have been ripped off if I did the job for the cost of the parts.... At what point does showing a profit become ripping a customer off?..... But I digress...There is no consious god and if you do good out of fear of hell, then I fail to see how you are a good person.

Joking apart - altruism is a wonderful thing and IMHO the way to go. However (there's always a however - sorry  ), "believers" who do good things don't always do good things out of fear or for glory. Also "atheists" sometimes do good things out of self righteous priggery.

Neither side has the sole licence to altruism.

Where we miss out being atheist is that we can't get all spruced up once a week and be forgiven for our sins down at the local church.

Apparently, On your deathbed, If sins are confessed and belief in Christ is suddenly found (from somewhere) then it's all ok, you're allowed into heaven.

Marvellous.

Might as well get a few more murders, rapes, and muggings under your belt, it will all be forgiven.
What kind of lesson in morality is that then?????

Madness.

What makes it more laughable is, the Atheists will all be wandering about outside the gates not allowed in, having been decent people all their lives.

You can't fake belief - deathbed or no deathbed.
I think the concept is that it's better to have realised than not to have.
