No I'm not referring to any of our fellow members...............this terrible story has just been on the radio. They are debating on whether this type of dog be banned!

Rottweilers, Alsations and other large dangerous dogs should be banned as there is no need for these lethal weapons to be amongst us. They can be more dangerous than guns!

The Chinese force owners to muzzle their large dogs.

Gonna upset a few dog owners! :(

Those breeds with a bad track record should be castrated, kept on a lead and muzzled. It would make them totally harmless.

So, its large dogs now. Few weeks ago, it was shot guns that needed banning, courtesy of Monsieur Moat. Just before that, foxes were the villains that needed wholesale extermination.

Last year, a drunken woman driver mounted the pavement up the road from me, and killed a 12 year old boy. So lets add women drivers to the list.

Bahco, you usually make sensible contributions to this forum. However, jumping on the 'ban them all, knee-jerk bandwagon' would be great if only life was that simple. Life is dangerous, banning everything that is of potential danger is impractical. Where would it all end?

I'm not normally a ban them all merchant but I really cannot see any use in society for vicious breeds of dogs. .
If I am missing something then please enlighten me.:D

I can see dog licensing coming back as the govmnt are being pressed to act and rightly so. £750 per large dog will soon see off this menace!

The law should be that if you can't carry your dog around (hand bag dogs) then it should me muzzled when it leaves your property.

i don't think it would be fair to charge huge amounts for a licence if you keep your dog at home, as it would only affect the elderly. but any dog not on a lead or under proper control should be shot

Just how difficult would it be to ban the dogs we all know to be dangerous? This would also need to include crossbreeds.

Only if it can be applied to kids as well. ;)

i agree with john & kev a dangerous dog is only down to the owners not the breed.
aggression in a dog is useally a sign of other problems related to the dog
ie lack of socialising, dominance aggression, diet, Boredom etc.

dog licensing won't stop anything the genuine ones are the only ones that'll get a license same as dog insurance. all my dogs are insured ID tattooed/chipped and trained. and not one of them has ever stepped out of line with children or other animals.
